STREET LIGHTS 16
Street lights is a collection inspired by Hip-Hop and Rap culture and that I designed around a fictional story. I wanted to take a fresh and unusual approach to designing a collection through surreal story telling.
In my story, it’s 12:50 a.m. and a girl is lying in her bed in the dark. Suddenly a basketball flies through her window and breaks the glass. She looks out nervously to see what is going on. She sees the streets lights are on and a reflection of the traffic light beams on the broken glass. A group of neighborhood kids walk towards her window to get the basketball. The hot-headed girl climbs through the window with the ball and is challenged to play a one-on-one game to resolve the issue. She wins the game and from that night on was known as the “street light champ” on the block.
My target customer is between the ages of 15-28 years old, enjoys hanging out at free outdoor music festivals, throws kick-backs (events where a group of people hang and chill) and likes to skateboard, go to the movies and shop, especially as a shoe collector. They are creative and outgoing individuals who sets trends.
